Once you learn these two stitches you will find everything else is just a variation of the knit and purl stitches.
Circular needles are great for knitting sweaters or afghans. Various tools have been developed to make hand-knitting easier. The third needle type consists of circular needles, which are long, flexible double-pointed needles. All knitting instructions use basically two stitches, the knit stitch and the purl stitch.
The lower red course is knit into the white row below it and is itself knit on the next row; this produces stockinette stitch. If they are not secured, the loops of a knitted course will come undone when their yarn is pulled; this is known as ripping out or unravelling knitting. But in reality, a handcrafted gift, such as a knit baby blanket, costs a lot more in material and time than the mass produced blankets that you find in the store. Some yarns are dyed to be either variegated (changing color every few stitches in a random fashion) or self-striping (changing every few rows).
Knit it like you would knit any stitch. Exercise is great, yet, doing something for your soul, is just as important.
