Best Reasons To Knit!
In this article, I will attempt to explain some of the basic knitting stitches and everything they encompass. Let me start by introducing you to the five stitch types that I believe are at the very heart of knitting! Learn, and perfect, each one of these, and you will be well on your way to becoming an expert in knitting!
The fibers making up a yarn may be continuous filament fibers such as silk and many synthetics, or they may be staples (fibers of an average length, typically a few inches); naturally filament fibers are sometimes cut up into staples before spinning. This is because there are numerous textures of yarn and a vast array of colours to choose from. By using simple stitches, a person will be able to create a blanket. A third but less common method, called combination knitting, may also be used.
A second potential difficulty is that the knitted piece will slide off the tapered end of the needles when unattended; this is prevented by "point protectors" that cap the tapered ends. A beginner is naturally clumsy because they are not comfortable with using two needles. Some yarns are dyed to be either variegated (changing color every few stitches in a random fashion) or self-striping (changing every few rows).
It doesn't all happen at once. The place where smart knitters gather resources and share stories.
